SafeCoat 600 coating
The SafeCoat 600 series is an anti-microbial decorative coating.
SafeCoat 600 series will kill, as a minimum, the following micro-organisms:
Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus Aureus, Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), Bacillus Subtilis, Klebsiella pneumonine, Pseudomonsas aeruginosa, Escherichia Coli, Salmonella enteritidis, Legionella, Candida Albicans, Aspergillus Niger.
As with all Impreglon coatings, SafeCoat 600 series is applied here at our purpose built facility in the midlands.
In addition to an impressive anti-microbial function, SafeCoat 600 series is a decorative coating so combines functionality with aesthetics.
How does SafeCoat 600 series compare with traditional conventional nanosilver powder coatings?
A typical nanosilver coating will start at an effective rate of being able to neutralise about 103 germs per hour though it’s effectivity drops off to zero germs per hour after just a few weeks. SafeCoat 600 series starts with being able to neutralise 5 x 105 germs per hour BUT retains this level for between 5 and 10 years, depending on usage.
Within a hospital environment SafeCoat 600 series can offer a massive benefit. Research in Germany has shown that MRSA infections have risen from less than 2% in 1990 to over 20% in 2012, with around 80,000 patients contracting hospital acquired infections every year. A high proportion of these infected patients die as a result.
SafeCoat 600 series coatings can be used on hand rails, door handles, safety rails, door push plates, hand operated equipment, etc. – anything metallic that has to be touched in a mass throughput or transport location, along with building services such as water filtration systems and air conditioning ductwork. Tested to JIS Z 2801:2006 ISO/CD 22196/2007 with no detectable colony forming units. This means a complete reduction of more than 99.9% under the test conditions. Fraunhofer Institute, Bremen. The resistance of the coating against fungi and bacteria (aspergillus niger DSM 1957, penicillium funiculosum DSM 1944, paecilomyces variotii DSM 1961, gliocladium virens DSM 1963 and chaetomium globosum DSM 1962) meets DIN EN ISO 846, so is suitable for use in HVAC systems as tested by ILH Berlin. Tested and passed as anti-microbial by Quality Labs Biomaterial Testing, Nuernberg for staphylococcus epidermis DSM 18857.
Impreglon Germany have worked on the development of SafeCoat 600 series and have successfully trialed it on tram grab rails. Impreglon UK is applying SafeCoat 600 series to UK and Ireland clients.
