Our range of optically clear coatings is applied by our Optical Coating Technologies plant in Tamworth. The coatings are used to provide optically clear abrasion resistant, chemical & solvent resistant and ant-fog coatings onto safety glasses, lenses, visors etc. The automotive industry also benefits from these coatings on switches, internal & external lighting components, and internal & external trim.
A new product range combines the abrasion and chemical resistance of the hard coats with anti-microbial properties. Tested for MRSA and E.Coli to ISO 22196, the new range of coatings will kill more than 99.9% of these two bacteria as compared with an untreated sample. The coating also gives a slight non-glare property to the coated component. Anti-fog coatings can also be modified to give anti-microbial properties. Go to www.optical-coatings.com for more details.
Optical Coating Technologies also applies metal coatings such as gold, silver, copper and aluminium on to plastics, metals and glass using vacuum deposition. These coatings are used on eye safety wear, medical components and semi-conductor wafers.
The third strand to the Optical Coating Technologies business is the stockholding of ready coated polycarbonate sheet. As the UK and Ireland distributor for KRD of Germany, Optical Coating Technologies can provide off the shelf sheets and CNC profiles for the signage and digital display markets.
Optical Coating Technologies manufactures tinted Triacetate welding and thermal spray visors to different Shade Levels. As part of the Impreglon Group 'One Stop Shop' philosophy, we can provide the complete supply of the visor if required. The concept of 'One Stop Shop' is further developed by our ability to source and supply complete coated mouldings, from organising the moulding tool and plastic raw material through to the coating and dedicated packaging.
