PlasmaCoat®
The PlasmaCoat® method can combine the outstanding hardness and wear resistance of thermally sprayed metal or ceramic coatings with the non-stick and sliding properties of polymers (both fluoropolymers and other polymers). By choosing the right combination of plasma coating and polymer, we are able to achieve very good traction characteristics. PlasmaCoat® is an Impreglon coating family name and does not necessarily describe the thermal spray process used.
A wide range of metallic and ceramic options means that PlasmaCoat® can offer tailored solutions with different surface roughnesses and profiles in conjunction with the best possible polymer selection. PlasmaCoat® systems can also be used without the addition of the polymer where wear resistance or other specific properties are required. For example, where Aluminium is applied onto steel components for the offshore oil and gas industry the Aluminium provides galvanic protection.
When applied to cylindrical components such as rolls or drums, the PlasmaCoat® process can deliver a very accurate coating thickness and run out tolerance.
- FDA compliant: Yes, for most of the coatings
- Coating thickness: 80 µm to 295 µm for PlasmaCoat® with polymer and up to 500 µm without.
- Surface roughness (Ra): 1.5 µm to 17.0 µm plus
- Temperature range: -40 °C to +285 °C
- Hardness: 28 to 70 HRc
